Alderman Cappleman is inviting everyone who lives in the 46th Ward to vote on which projects to spend the $1 million allocated for our Ward. People of the Ward gave ideas on how to spend the money, and committees were formed to evaluate all these ideas. The projects recommended by these committees will be on view on two (2) different dates prior to the Public Vote. Come see the plans and talk to the Committees. Find out which projects will appear on the ballot for a PUBLIC VOTE this May.

Saturday, April 6th, 10:00am-12:00pm – Uplift High School, 900 West Wilson Avenue

Monday, April 8th, 6:00p – 8:00 pm, Preston Bradley Center, 941 West Lawrence Avenue

The public vote will take place April 27th – May 5th.

Along with the other Block Clubs in the area, we’re going to make Cleaning and Greening a monthly project. As it’s actually supposed to be relatively warm this weekend, our first clean up will be this Saturday, March 30th from 10am-noon. We’re just concentrating on litter this go-around. Meet us at the corner of Leland and Magnolia at 10am for bags. We’ll get a schedule together of future dates, so you can pencil them in your calendars.

Dear Neighbors,

As you probably know, the Wilson L Station and adjacent property will be renovated in a $203 million, 33-month project to begin in mid-2013. Many of you went to the CTA Open House at Truman College recently and saw the CTA’s renderings of a modern, safe, and more welcoming main station, retail space in the Gerber building and a new south entrance to the Red Line platform on Sunnyside between Target and Aldi. The CTA wants this south entrance as do the majority of respondents to our Wilson L Restructuring Community Survey. more

Osterman’s CTA meeting last night about the Red Line improvements in progress and in store, and comes away with the news that — while the station work will most probably be on schedule — the extra work viaducts and eliminating slow zones will take a little longer. Intermittent road closures will take weeks longer than the station work. more
